Summary
Extended abstract: In the first session of this webinar, we will focus on the R package management and user environment configuration on the HPC cluster. We will learn how to run some basic built-in commands in the R Console or RStudio to list, install from source, update, and remove R packages. We will also introduce how to install R packages with conda, which is more convenient for building an isolated environment, but also has some limitations we need to be aware of. We will provide a few examples to configure the user environment to better use R or RStudio for HPC. Next, in the second session, we will focus on the R parallelization in HPC. We will provide a few examples of implicit parallelism in R, including the workflow of the R parallel package to generate the desired R processes on a single node or multiple nodes, as well as a few related packages that can parallelize and enhance the data importing and computing performance of R programs.
